They're Back!

2 of the 3 shows I've followed over the past few years had great starts to their new seasons. How I Met Your Mother and the great House MD. I'm waiting for 30 Rock next month.

Season 5 of House ended with Dr. Gregory House having voluntarily admitted himself in an asylum for curing his delusions, season 6 starts of just where it left and in such an awesome way. The best thing about the show is how it dares to break boundaries, imagine a season premiere without any of the major characters apart from House himself and a fleeting glimpse of his best friend Wilson. The premiere was a 2 episode special and a great start to a great show.

How I Met Your Mother started off pretty nicely as well, finally we get to see Barney and Robin actually as a couple, I guess as far as Ted is concerned he might take 10 seasons to get to his real wife, or maybe he could end up saying, "Well, kids, I just can't remember who your mother is 'cause I think you both were adopted!"

But more on House, I am eagerly looking forward to all the episodes of the show, it's the only 40 minute per episode show I am hooked onto along with Boston Legal. So... I'm glad they're back!

Boston Legal

Boston Legal is the latest addition to my all-time-favorites list. It takes a lot of consistency to get onto that sort of a list in anyone's case, and this show is right on top of the list. If you need proof of it's awesomeness, read this: In its five-year run, it was nominated for 25 Emmy Awards, winning seven times.

For those of you who need an introduction to this show, here you are:

It's about the lives of legal attorneys at a leading law firm called Crane Poole and Schmidt in Boston. The main characters are Alan Shore, played by the brilliant James Spader and Denny Crane, played awesomely by the scene stealer William Shatner, who long long ago used to play Captain Kirk in the original Star Trek series which I used to religiously watch in some years ago, when TV was really worth watching.

The other characters of the show are also quite interesting, but Denny and Alan totally rule the show. Each episode has one or two major trials going on and they're all interesting and fun. Denny Crane is supreme and delivers his punchlines every time brilliantly, you never tire of hearing him say "Denny Crane".

By the end of each episode the trials come to a close and you get to see whether Alan and Denny win or lose. The last scene in almost each episode shows Denny and Alan chilling on their office balcony and discussing stuff, it's quite a different style of ending an episode. The women in the firm are mostly hot, then men are funny, the lines are hilarious and above all those two magic words - Denny Crane!

Just watch this show, I am quite positive you'll like it. I for one love it. It's right up there for me with Seinfeld and House.

Seinfeld Season 4 Quotes

One of the best seasons of Seinfeld was season 4. Below are some of the quotes from a few episodes.

The Pitch [S04E03] -

Jerry is asked by executives at NBC to come up with an idea for a sitcom. What follows is this discussion between Jerry and George about ideas for the show.

Jerry and George in Monk's thinking of ideas for their show to pitch to NBC.

George
(Just throwing it out there): This should be the show.
Jerry: What?
George: This, just talking.
Jerry(Dismissing): Yeah, right.
George: No I'm serious that sounds like a good idea.
Jerry: Just talking? What's the show about?
George: It's about nothing.
Jerry: No story?
George: No, forget the story.
Jerry: You've got to have a story.
George: Who says you gotta have a story? Remember when we were waiting for, for that table in that Chinese restaurant that time? That could be a TV show.
Jerry: And who is on the show? Who are the characters?
George: I could be a character.
Jerry: You?
George: Yeah. You could base a character on me.
Jerry: So, on the show, there's a character named George Costanza?
George: Yeah. There's something wrong with that? I'm a character. People are always saying to me, "You know you're a quite a character."
Jerry: And who else is on the show?
George: Elaine could be a character. Kramer..
Jerry: Now he's a character.....So everybody I know is a character on the show.
George: Right.
Jerry: And it's about nothing?
George: Absolutely nothing.
Jerry: So you're saying, I go in to NBC, and tell them I got this idea for a show about nothing.
George: WE go into NBC.
Jerry: "We"? Since when are you a writer?
George(Scoffs): Writer. We're talking about a sit-com.
Jerry: You want to go with me to NBC?
George: Yeah. I think we really go something here.
Jerry: What do we got?
George: An idea.
Jerry: What idea?
George: An idea for the show.
Jerry: I still don't know what the idea is!
George: It's about nothing!
Jerry: Right.
George: Everybody's doing something. We'll do nothing!
Jerry: So, we go into NBC, we tell them we've got an idea for a show about nothing.
George: Exactly.
Jerry: They say, "What's your show about?" I say, "Nothing."
George: There you go.
Jerry (After a moment of pause): I think you may have something there.

The Contest [S04E11] -

This is the episode of Seinfeld in which the characters actually have a Contest of who can last longer, without, ahem, doing something [let's just keep it to that]. A very controversial topic which was handled in a very non-controversial and hilarious way. The episode theme, is used till date by many sitcoms!

Jerry Seinfeld: But are you still "Master of your Domain?"
George Costanza: I am king of the county.

Jerry Seinfeld: It's like shaving.
Elaine Benes: Oh what a bunch of baloney! I shave my legs!
Cosmo Kramer: [while eating] Not everyday

The Implant [S04E19] -

Another "touchy" subject handled [pun intended] in a way never been seen before. Jerry dates a well endowed Teri Hatcher [Sidra] and is doubtful about the naturalness of, well lets just call them - "them". Some of the best lines in the episode were:

Elaine Benes: You've dated women with nose jobs before, so what's the big deal?
Jerry Seinfeld: You don't touch the nose, you don't aspire to reach the nose, you don't unhook anything to get to the nose and no man has ever tried to look up a woman's nostril!

Sidra: [referring to "them"] By the way, they're real, and they're spectacular!

How I Met Your Mother

I breathed a huge sigh of relief when I found out that HIMYM will have a 4th Season at least. Not that the show is an all-time-great one. It's just that each episode has it's Barney moments. Just for that and maybe a bit of Robin, I'd like the show to carry on. It's way better than some of the other crap on offer in the name of comedy, like 8 Simple Rules et all.

There's also the good camradrie between the friends in the show, it's a light hearted romantic comedy which is always saved by Barney from becoming cheesy!

Houseisms

I finally found a site where some House masterpieces have been posted. This show by far surpasses any show I've ever seen, it's like an unputdownable book, only, it's much better; part of the reason why I've been awake till Sunrise the past 5 days!

House Quotes

House On Imdb

Some of my personal favorites -

Anagram for Gregory House? - Huge ego, sorry.

Are you comparing me to God? I mean, it's great, but so you know, I've never made a tree.

Cameron: "Could pain medication cause an orgasm?"
House: "I wish."

Dr. Gregory House: Everybody lies.

Cuddy: "Dr. House! Need you here."
House: "No thanks. Lotta sick people. I might catch something."

Dr. Wilson: I love my wife.
Dr. Gregory House: You certainly love saying it.
Dr. Wilson: At least I try.
Dr. Gregory House: Well, as long as you're trying to be good, you can do whatever you want.
Dr. Wilson: And as long as you're not trying, you can say whatever you want.
Dr. Gregory House: So between us we can do anything. We can rule the world!

Dr. Gregory House: Perseverance does not equal worthiness. Next time you want to get my attention, wear something fun. Low-riding jeans are hot.

Dr. Cameron: Men should grow up.
Dr. Gregory House: Yeah. And dogs should stop licking themselves. It's not gonna happen.

House is the king of sarcasm, I've noticed how endearing mean and self centered TV characters are such huge successes; cases in point are Barney from How I Met Your Mother and obviously Dr. Gregory House from House M.D. and also Dr. Perry Cox from Scrubs; I guess it's because in our heart of hearts we all want to be rude to people we don't really like, we all want to stop pretending like we actually care about formalities or mundane things in life. But we can't, that's because on TV at the end of the day there's always a new episode; for us, we get screwed! So i'll just watch House take out all his frustrations and laugh and enjoy the show!
