Things I should put on my blog

Hey here are a few things i think i should put on the blog:

1. I saw I Am Legend: It was ok, although i expected more

2. Modi Won: I am politically apolitical. So no comments!

3. I plan to watch Welcome and Taarey Zameen Par, very shortly.

4. I intend to update the blog a lot more, henceforth.

5. I definitely intend to find a skirt wearing chic and then i'll see if she's worth chasing ;)

6. My previously mentioned "skirt chaser" friend, i forgot to mention, was more capable of chasing away a skirt on a mannequin, leave alone a real life "chic" :D

7. My results are very close by [in terms of time]

Chasing Skirts???

I met a friend today, we met after a long time. As usual, when guys meet, the conversation moves onto chics. He asked me about my "chic status". I wont divulge that on my blog, but after i told him my "chic status", i returned the gesture and asked him. He said something, that just got stuck in my brain. He happened to use the phrase, "stopped chasing skirts". Which means that he's stopped going after girls. But what struck me was that, in todays times of skin tight [and even better ;)] jeans and tops; one rarely sees a girl in a skirt. So his statement actually holds no real value.
Chasing skirts... i'd love to see someone actually try that!

Choices I Have To Make!

Ever since I've gained consciousness [Jab se maine hosh sambhaala hai] I've had to make a lot of choices, only, they were meaningful and the time to make choices was spread out over various intervals. But now, I find myself having to make different choices. Some, I think, are downright stupid.
For example, in my leisure time, the choices i had to make were, which channel to watch. Or, to be precise, which show/movie to watch. Now, however, I find myself in a dilemma.
Once i switch on the T.V. and flip through channels, all i see is, a lot [infinite] of news channels [In Hindi, English, Gibberish], showing every useless, mindless, shameless, brainless, idiotic event in this world. At times, yes, they show something useful, like who won an election, or some important cricket news. But the rest is crap [worse than RDC (read the crap I wrote below)].
The other options are shows with Has Beens/Wannabes either singing/dancing/judging in the various, repetitive shows.
Funny thing is, that as soon as a "Season" of such shows is over, they start the "Next Season". I didn't realize that seasons change in a week's time ;)
Seinfeld or Friends would've lasted just 3 yrs, if their "Seasons" were as short as our T.V. "Seasons"!
Only thing is that in the August Season, one hears older fools singing, by November, we have "Lil' Champs". Poor kids, they barely have 7 teeth, n they manage the Saat Sur. The only other logical option is ESPN/Star Sports, with the EPL.

So friends, in my free time now the choice I have to make is not which show/channel I should switch on. But rather, whether i should even dare to switch ON the T.V. set.
I forgot to mention the only thing i really watch on T.V>, it's VH1. Thank God for that channel.

Up next, I must mention another favorite of my blog post topics: Sachin Tendulkar. The man gave 3 lengthy interviews this week and all 3 times, he was asked about his retirement. Here's a sample of stuff he had to hear.
Interviewer: Sachin, there were a lot of rumors raised about your retirement. What do you have 2 say about it?
The Gentleman asking the Q was guilty of raising same rumors. [Since when were rumors "raised", I thought they were "spread"]
Sachin: I will let you know when I decide to retire.

Interviewer: Sachin, do you get emotional while playing with such great players, knowing that you all are going to retire?
Sachin: We dont have time to get emotional, we are there to play.

Interviewer: How does it feel to play, what may be your last tour in Australia?

I'm sure by now you get the gist of what the retard of an Interviewer was asking. I think Sachin should declare his retirement, by saying that he'll retire after 15 April, 2015! Maybe then the media will shut up w.r.t. The Retirement thing.

Other issues now: I just read an amazing novel called The Dice Man by Luke Rhinehart [Pseudo Name]. It was amazing.
The Back Cover of the book read:
--------------------
If that dice has a 'one' face up, I thought, I'm going downstairs to rape Arlene. 'If it's a one, I'll rape Arlene' kept blinking on and off my mind like a huge neon light and my terror increased. But when I thought if it's not a one I'll go to bed, the terror evaporated and excitement swept over me: a one means rape, the other numbers mean bed, the die is cast. Who am I to question the dice?
--------------------
The book is very intriguing and exceptionally humorous. The story revolves around a bored, successful psychiatrist who starts a mind game with himself initially wherein he throws a dice to decide whether he should commit to outrageous choices (as shown above).
Currently I am reading The Other Side Of Midnight by Sidney Sheldon [am on pg. 137]
and the book is amazing.
I'm really looking forward to seeing India play well and win in Australia. Sachin I hope scores a century before the New Year :)
I forgot to mention Led Zeppelin had their Reunion gig at the O2 arena in London, a close friend of mine was lucky enough to be there at the gig. The videos on Youtube show that it was a spectacular night of spellbinding music by the Legends.
Anyways, this post is getting way too long...
See ya!

Movies, Cricket and Exams

Its weird how the most awaited movies [according to News Channels] release just a week before the End Sem exams. Its also weird how India Vs Pakistan matches are always scheduled during the exams. Its also weird how Sachin just cant cross the 90's! [U rule Sachin]

But engineering has made me appreciate life, a lot more than i did before. I love it. This phase, why? Coz, there's always something to do, and its all exciting. I just went last week for Jab We Met and now will go for Saawariya. But meanwhile i've been really busy, switching from studies to pure time pass. I really enjoy this. Partly becoz its so simple, everything is laid out. Exams start from 19th. I have all the time in the world to study. i know the syllabus. All i have to do is study!

Nowadays, somehow i have drastically reduced my cell phone usage, i barely use it. I've been listening to songs from Jab We Met, i loved the movie and the songs are great. Truly Indian Music. What a relief from the Remix shit and crappy songs like Dard-e-Disco.

I've almost stopped hearing Rock. Just a rare Led Zeppelin Song here or there, and a rare Bob Dylan song.

How I Met Your Mother: I love this show and recommend it to everyone. I saw both the Seasons, the 3rd season is on air in the US right now. Both the seasons are Legen-wait for it-dary!

All thats left is for me to finish off the portion well and do my best in the End Sem exams. To know whether i succeed or not, watch this space!

Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."

Sachin

"The only thing that people love to watch more than a hero win, is to watch a hero fall!" These lines from the movie Gladiator completely mirror the current situation with respect to whats been happening with Sachin Tendulkar.
People have seen him carry the team for more than a decade and a half, now they want to see him fall. They want to see what he says while he descends from the heights that he had once reached at his prime. They want to provoke him and them pity him. They want to see their God become human.
How else can one explain why 77% of the people voted on some site said that Sachin should retire? Why would they like to see him, before all others be punished for the Team's humiliating loss in the World Cup? The answer is, because till now, no one could raise a finger at him. And now, as his glorious career is in its final lap, all the critics, who thus far, weren't in any position to criticize the man, suddenly find themselves stronger than him. Public sentiment is now against the man who let them down.
Questions which once were never asked of him, are now being asked by everyone, even those who may never have held a bat in their life. All of a sudden, his reflexes are too slow! He cant run fast between the wickets!
People masquerading as Sachin fans say - This was bound to happen. After all, even he cant fight age. Its time he should retire, before he is dropped.
This is just what the common man has to say. What is really disgusting is to see, lesser players who debuted after Sachin and retired before him beaming while they criticize the great man, feigning concern over his injury-battered body.

But the few,
Who are true,
The real fans,
Not members of reckless clans,
Will support Sachin,
Whether we lose or win,
Coz they know what he truly is,
They haven't forgotten like the rest,
When he was better than the best,
And maybe he will do it again for them,
One more time, we may see him dancing down the track,
Once again he may smash bowlers out of the attack,
The true hearted will wait for that day,
Hopefully he will succeed in that endeavour,
N silenced will be the critics forever!!!

I'm just gonna post one line posts from now on till t1

Late Night Studies

I just started studying for t1 seriously and let me say this that the amount i study in the four to five hours that i study on holidays in the day time is nearly half of what i study during the night from 1 am to 3 am!!!
No, i don't drink coffee or tea or any such thing, just some music and my headphones to keep me up.

Tired

Last five nights i have slept very little [a cumulative time of 21 hours in 5 days] So i think the next post will be when i am refreshed and i dont see that happening till the end of the T1 exams in 2 weeks!!!

Attending a marriage

I'm sure all of you must have attended marriages many times. The next time you go, just see if any of the following things happen to you :

Most of the times you end up speaking to people you think you know, but learn later that they weren't who you thought they were.

Some people seem to be interested only in the food, they are the ones you see hanging around near the serving area all the time.

The most dangerous question ever in life is when some unknown face comes and says - Pehchana mujhe? And the look they have on their faces tells you that you need a miracle to remember their names/relationship with you. You can, of course, take the hard road and say, "Pehchana par yaad nahi aarehey ho!" and break their hearts. Or you can try your luck and say, "Haan haan, bilkul pehchana" and then just pray that they don't say, "Batao main kaun hoon?"

There will always be someone or the other staring at you when you're eating.

The video camera will always be on you just when you drop food on yourself.

The cameraman will always click the photo when your eyes are shut.

The cameraman will make you look hideous.

Every old aunty will pull your cheeks just like they did when you were a kid, only, now you're nineteen and going to college, instead of being 6 and going to school.

Small kids will find the worst time to start playing tag, or worse will start yelling at the top of their voices right next to your ear.

You will feel relieved when you're leaving the marriage hall.

All along the watchtower

The following post has nothing in common with Jimi Hendrix's song "All along the watchtower"! If that doesn't dissuade you from reading on, then read on...

If you have ever read an authentic book on war, then you'll know that in WWII and until the 71 war, the basic combat used to be soldier to soldier, man to man, bayonet to bayonet. But if you have read about such stuff, then you'll also know that whenever an enemy trench is attacked, the attacking army has to make a run-for-it to the enemy trench lines. During the course of which they are open to enemy fire. Also, as unbelievable as it may sound, it is the man who runs the fastest and straightest, who reaches the trench safely, at times, completely untouched by the hundreds of random bullets that are fired.

So what does this have to do with anything? Well, its an interesting comparison to an end sem examination. And i mean, the examination, as in, the time that students start writing the paper. How so? Well its simple, before the paper begins, everybody knows that the task is difficult, for some, it is impossible; the others however are busy planning their course of action.

The paper starts... everyone starts running, gun in hand... students start writing stuff with a pen in hand.
Case 1: A very difficult paper, with question that have never been seen before... enemy trenches well planned, bullets coming from directions that weren't accounted for in the plan.
Good students stick to the task and start writing... Determined soldiers keep their heads down and start running.

Unprepared students start reading other questions and realise that its of no use, they submit their answer sheets and leave... The weak hearted soldier is the first to go down after just one bullet.

Mid-way students put on their thinking caps and start writing semi-correct answers... The determind but unskilled soldier gets a bullet wound, staggers but carries on.

Basic point is that every exam can be viewed as a battle and we're all soldiers and its those who were vigilant on the watchtower all sem, who have a better and at times glorious time when the results are out, and the others just bite the bullet first and then bite the dust!!!

P.S. If you're wondering what kind of a whacko post this one is... then i wont blame you cause after writing it even i dont know what weird brain-wave caused me to type the whole damn thing, but if it is any consolation then let me tell you this tit-bit of a fact, that, the song All Along the watch tower was created by the greatest guitarist ever Jimi Hendrix and the song is listed as the #5 Best guitar Solo in History!!!

Good TV shows: A Fundamental Right

Are you one of the millions of young people who have only 1 TV set at home??? Do you have to watch CNN-IBN and NDTV for more than 3 hrs in a day??? Do you wake up in the morning n hear the news, come home in the evening and hear...the same news stories and again hear the same news while eating dinner??? Have you borne the torture of seeing two back to back news bulletins, it goes without saying that the bulletins were identical with no new stories??? Do you have to switch over to news instead of watching Monday Night Comedy on Star World???

If the answer to any of the above questions is yes, then welcome to the club. If it helps then here's a fact that no news channel will give you, its a result of a poll taken by some anonymous group of cool people:
Do News Channels Suck?
90% Yes [All voters were between 16 and 30 yrs of age]
5% No [All voters were people who've featured on one of the myriad Audience shows of News channels or were standing behind some news reporter during a live report]
5% Cant Say [These are the fortunate or maybe not so fortunate people who have TV but no cable, who have only seen DD News so far. They are fortunate coz they haven't been exposed to NDTV/CNN-IBN/Times Now or worse Aaj Tak/Star News.]

That does it for the news channels, now for the second part. Brain killing shows like Big Boss/Indian Idol [who the hell chose the losers who claim to be Indian Idols] The judges of Indian Idol should take a cue from MTV's Roadies' Judges. I mean they really turn on the heat during the initial qualifying rounds. Then comes the turn of some channels which were awesome about 4 years ago, before Pokemon happened. I used to watch this show called Power Zone on Cartoon Network when i was small. It was really interesting and at the same time it wasn't dumb or stupid. Shows like the ones they show on Pogo and CN nowadays are like, meant for retards or something. Pokemon might be interesting for children, but its just a lil' too Chinese. I heard this "child psychologist" saying that the shows on Pogo like the one with some clay Penguin, are really good for "mental development" of children. My friends and people of my generation, are all doing well and aren't exactly violent, as the psychologist claimed, that children who see Tom n Jerry have violent tendencies. That's a load of bulls***t!

Can the days of Mastermind India ever come back... i dont know, but we can decide ourselves.
